China signed the International Convention for the Suppression of Acts of Nuclear Terrorism in 2005 and ratified it in 2010.
China has supported international cooperation against nuclear terrorism and has incorporated relevant obligations into domestic nuclear-security law and practice.
China’s 2016 nuclear security progress report stated that China regarded combating illicit trafficking of nuclear material as a key element in preventing acts of nuclear terrorism, had installed more than 1,000 radiation-detection devices at sea, air, highway and railway ports, and had conducted cooperation with the United States and Russia on preventing illicit trafficking of nuclear and other radioactive material.
